Basmati Rice with Peas is a great side dish that goes well with a variety of main dishes.
It will take up to 20 minutes to prepare!
Ingredients:
1½ cups white BASMATI rice
2 tablespoons oil
2 teaspoons fennel seeds (you can also use cumin seeds instead)
1½ teaspoons salt (or to taste)
1½ cups frozen peas
2¼ cups water
Directions:
1. Rinse the white BASMATI rice well in a bowl (until the water runs almost clear). Drain and set aside.
2. Heat the oil in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the fennel seeds and fry until a few seeds start to darken slightly.
3. Then immediately add the rice, frozen peas, and salt. Mix well to coat the rice with the oil.
4. Add water and stir until rice is completely covered. Cover and bring to a boil. Once boiling, stir again, reduce heat to low-medium, and simmer for 10 minutes or until water is completely absorbed.
5. Turn off heat and leave covered for another 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve hot.
