    Ayran (Turkish Salty Yogurt Drink)

This is a frothy cold yogurt drink.

If you don't have a "bartender" shaker, you can achieve a similar result by pouring the yogurt drink between two very large glasses or pitchers. Pour from a high place to get as much air as possible - it's best to do this over the sink!

    Ingredients:

1/2 cup plain unsweetened yogurt (whole milk)
    3/4 cup cold water
    Salt
For serving: dried or fresh mint (optional)

    Directions:

    1. Add yogurt, water, and salt (to taste) to a "bartender" shaker. Mix with a fork or spoon.
    2. Close the shaker tightly. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.
    3. Carefully open the top (you may need to tap the side with your palm). Add a handful of ice, close tightly, and shake vigorously again - the drink should be frothy.
    4. Open the top of the blender again, pour into a glass, garnish with dried or fresh mint and serve.

NOTE: Greek yogurt is thicker than Turkish yogurt. If using Greek yogurt, add an extra splash or two of water. First, whisk the water and yogurt very well with a fork, then whisk very vigorously with a blender.
