    Applesauce

    Applesauce can be used in many ways: served with pancakes or toast; used as an ingredient in baking; you can also use this sauce to flavor ice cream and yogurt!


    Ingredients:


    2.7 kg apples, peeled, cored and cut into 8 wedges
    240 ml apple juice
    1 lemon (juiced)
    100 g brown sugar (½ cup)
    1 teaspoon cinnamon (or to taste)
    Optional ingredients: nutmeg, maple syrup, butter

    Directions:


    1. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally (25 minutes).
    2. Carefully puree with a food processor or blender until smooth (do not over-blend – if necessary, puree in several stages). Store in the refrigerator.
