The main ingredient of this sauce is tahini, a sesame seed paste typical of Middle Eastern cuisine.
Lemon tahini sauce is versatile - it is suitable for seasoning not only salads, but also sandwiches, pita bread, avocado toast, falafel, fresh or fried vegetables, etc.
Ingredients:
½ cup tahini (sesame paste)
¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
6 tablespoons water (and more if necessary)
1 small clove garlic, grated
½ teaspoon sea salt
Maple syrup or honey (if necessary)
Extra virgin olive oil (if necessary)
Directions:
In a small bowl, mix tahini, lemon juice, water, garlic and salt. If the resulting sauce is too bitter, add a quarter or half teaspoon of maple syrup (or honey). You can also add half to a teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil to thin out the sauce. If the sauce is too thick, add more water (to achieve the desired consistency).
