Description

Erythritol is a natural sugar alcohol used as a sugar substitute. It is found naturally in some fruits, mushrooms and fermented foods. Commercially, erythritol is usually produced by fermenting glucose with certain yeasts or fungi. It is then filtered, crystallized and dried to produce a powder that looks and tastes like sugar, but contains fewer calories.
Main properties of erythritol:
Low in calories: Erythritol provides sweetness but is very low in calories. It contains only 0.2 calories per gram, compared to 4 calories in regular sugar.

Low glycemic index: Erythritol has a mild effect on blood sugar and insulin levels, making it suitable for people with diabetes or those following a low-carb diet.
Does not harm teeth: Unlike some other sweeteners, erythritol does not contribute to tooth decay. It does not feed bacteria in the mouth or cause acid production that can lead to cavities.

Digestive tolerance: Erythritol is generally well tolerated by most people when taken in small amounts.
Erythritol is commonly used as a sugar substitute in a variety of food and beverage products, including sugar-free or reduced-sugar products such as candies, chocolates, chewing gum, and beverages.

As with any sweetener, it's important to use it in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
Storage conditions: after opening, store in a sealed package, in a dry, cool place, away from direct sunlight.
