Solid shampoo is an alternative to regular bottled shampoo. It is a shampoo, but in the form of soap, which has the same effect as the regular shampoo that we buy in bottles. By using solid shampoo, we reduce the amount of plastic waste.

Reduced water content: Solid shampoos are generally anhydrous or contain minimal water content compared to liquid shampoos. Less water = stronger ingredients. Solid shampoo has a higher concentration of other ingredients. Solid cosmetic products can work in their strongest form, undiluted. In the long run, this means your hair will receive a powerful dose of key ingredients.

Less plastic: Liquid-free products do not require plastic bottles, which we often forget to recycle and thus contribute to pollution.
Longer life: As with liquid shampoos, the number of times you can use solid shampoos depends a lot on how often you wash your hair, how much product you apply in each wash, and how you store the product between uses. Pro Tip: Don't leave it where water can collect (like a soap dish without a drain). Allow it to drain and dry before next use. This will ensure that you do not waste product.

Space-saving: Chances are you already have a plethora of natural hair care products in your shower and cupboards. Solid shampoo means one less bottle.

How to use solid shampoo?

Once you find the right solid shampoo for your curl type and texture, you can easily incorporate it into your cleaning routine. If you've ever used a bar of soap on your body, then you already know what to do.
Wet your hair with water. The water will help create the much-needed foam. So make sure your hair is completely submerged in water.
Wet the solid shampoo. No need to soak the piece in water; a light shower will suffice.

Whip it up. You can create a lather by rubbing solid shampoo in the palm of your hand or directly into your hair. If you choose the latter, it can be helpful to rub in the shampoo in sections. In this way, the shampoo thoroughly covers the hair from root to tip and from front to end.

Leave the product for a few minutes. Just as you would use a good liquid shampoo on your hair, do the same with solid shampoo. Massage the shampoo into the scalp to remove any product build-up at the roots, then rub into the strands by cupping sections of hair between the palms of your hands and rubbing from top to bottom.

And finally, thoroughly rinse all the shampoo from your hair.
